A 16 year love affair

Tonight I sit at the wedding of my cousin, reminiscent of that magical day 16 years ago when I said, I do. It’s been a long road….a very long road, especially these past 5 years.

I wish I could say that all of our ups and downs were between the sheets. But, the truth is, Tom and I have fought togethet through 5 years of hell, however, we’ve fought for our marriage side by side. At different times we were on differnt sides, but nonetheless we fought, and ultimately we made it.

Now, 16 years later we talk of the renewed love we share. It is like we are 19 again, but better and stronger. We even discuss the renewal of our vows with our closest circle of friends and family that have supported us and carried us through the flames.

All I know is that a wedding is a few hours, but a marriage is a lifetime. I forever want to walk the good and bad with my Tom, hand in hand, in good and bad, in sickness and health, and I pray and thank God that he graces us with all the best.

For those who choose this blessing, you’ll find many challenges, but most of all, through these challenges, you’ll find great reward.
